Our beautiful cousin married the love of her life in Puerto Vallarta in December and I had the honor of being asked to be their photographer! I was thrilled as this was something on my bucket list…a destination wedding (not to mention she lives in Dallas and we live in Iowa so any time spent with our family is wonderful!) ! We traveled to the warm and tropical beauty of the Now Amber Resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and it was definitely its own little resort of paradise in Paradise! Though it was warm and we were running a bit behind that day, I had some good helpers to help keep things on track (my daughter and hubby). I loved capturing the emotions of that day! When I shoot a wedding, I don’t just shoot it to be taking pictures, I shoot it to tell the story of your day. There is so much that goes into planning it and preparing, as well as the chaos of the actual day that I feel when am hired to shoot a wedding I want to tell the story in detail of how the day went. Sometimes, the couple is so overwhelmed they seem to forget things that happened, or in a traditional setting, people that were there. This is where I come in, I capture the story of the day. So years from now you can look back on your photos and it will take you back to that very moment in time and you will feel EXACTLY how you felt on that day and remember those who shared it with you, if they are still with you or not. If my couple look back even weeks or years from now on their photos and feel the emotions of that day all over again by looking at their photos, then I know I did my job right. This was definitely one of the most beautiful weddings I ever photographed, not only because of the desitnation, but I had some pretty awesome subjects to photograph too! So Congrats Jamie and David! Here is a little of the story into their wedding day in Mexico….anyone want to be next destination subjects??
A beautiful, but a tad windy June day for a wedding (and it was Flag Day). We had Rendezvous we had to work with that day, being the reception and some photos were held on the island, but not to worry, we managed a loin cloth/tee-pee free wedding photo shoot and both Steph and I dropped minimal F-bombs 😉 Their reception looked like something right off a beautiful, creative Pinterest board. So many creative decorations that I found myself staring at throughout the evening and thinking to myself there is no way I could be that creative. Some couples radiate their love a little more than others, and this couple, well, you could just tell when you were in their presence how much they really loved each other. It was a wonderful day! Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Denner for allowing me to capture one of the most important days in your life! I hope you like your peek while you wait for your wedding package 🙂
What a gorgeous day to celebrate the marriage of 2 awesome people! When Rachel and Brad called me to do their wedding I KNEW it was going to be one of the funnest weddings I have ever shot! The engagement session was a hoot so I knew we would have even more fun adding a wedding party in with it 😉 Brad has a sense of humor a lot like mine so their entire wedding morning was spent laughing…mostly at some really dumb things that came out of my mouth ;). I was so honored to spend the day with an old friend watching him marry the love of his life. I wish you both a very happy ever after! Thank you for letting me be a part of your day. Here is a peek into their day!
My first wedding of the season kicked off with some BREEZY, yet beautiful weather, not to mention a GORGEOUS couple! A very intimate little ceremony in a quaint little rural church (my favorite). Congrats Nick and Tasha! Your package will be arriving soon! Here is a peek into their day….
I get so giddy with excitement when its spring and wedding season starts. Not gonna lie, by December every year I have total creative burn out after the busy season and I am cursing my camera, but this is the time of year I love! Everything is starting to bloom, its getting warmer and we are finally getting to go outside after THE LONGEST WINTER EVER to do some sessions, and my mind is starting to rid itself of cobwebs and gets excited to get back into creative mode! Yes, spring is FINALLY upon us! Thank goodness! I got the chance to spend one beautiful Saturday morning with the future Mr. and Mrs. Brainard for their engagement session (my favorite kind of session) in downtown Guttenburg. We did manage to find a few trees in bloom and got some good shots along the Mississippi. I love spending this time with my wedding couples as it gives them a chance to see how I work, how quirky and strange I am, so it doesn’t quite as such a shock on the day of the wedding. Tyler wasn’t much into photo sessions, but he did suck it up as a good sport and did everything asked of him and even managed to flash me a smile or two. I tried to make it as quick and painless as possible for him. He did pretty good 🙂 And of course, I knew Jordan would be a natural and she was! Here is a peek of my favs from their session……
