Mr. and Mrs. Honkomp

It was a somewhat chilly, but very pretty November day to say “I do”.  The wind wasn’t too terrible in the morning and we were able to get some outside shots downtown Dyersville. Your package is to arrive here this week, Amber, and will be shipped to you! Again, thanks for allowing me to capture your day, Amber and Rob! This couple was wonderful to work with! Here is a peek into their day…..

Specht Family

Meet the Specht Family! I had the pleasure of photographing these beautiful people at their home on a beautiful fall day! Jill is a classmate/friend of my husband’s and we have gotten to know each other pretty well over the years! I usually take their photos every year this time of year, but THIS year they grew by 2 feet! I was supposed to do Emily’s newborn photos and some family ones when she arrived, but she came about 10 weeks too early (in July) and was in the NICU in Iowa City. Along with being a little early, Emily developed a disease called necrotizing enterocolitis. Its a disease which basically your bowl tissue dies. Emily had one surgery right away and will have another major surgery this spring. She is such a strong little lady, not to mention one of the most beautiful I have ever photographed! Her parents are so wonderful and do so great with her as she requires so much round clock care! She has 3 big siblings that absolutely adore her as well! We had a fun afternoon (even though her youngest sibling, Lucy, didn’t like the whole idea of a photo shoot much-typical 2 year old!) Here is a peek into what we did that day….

Samantha and Jake! 9/29/12

Here is a peek into Sam and Jake’s day! It couldn’t have been a more perfect fall day to have an outdoor wedding! These two were dreams to work with and we had so much fun the entire day! They had a beautiful country wedding out on a gravel road with an intimate ceremony, my favorite! And we ended the day with my first attempt at a sparkler shot, not too bad for my first time. Thank you, Jake and Sam, for allowing me to capture your special day! It was an honor! Your photos should be done very soon!

Thank you so much for sharing!

Mr. and Mrs. Hansel! :)

It has been FOR-EVER since I blogged anything! I have been so incredibly busy that I haven’t even had a chance to breath! There are so many of you waiting for photos and I thank you for being so patient. This time of year I sound like a broken record, but please know I am working as hard as I can to get to everyone’s photos, but I do not want to rush my work. I am going to try and get better about putting more sneak peeks on the blog for my clients while their wait times are a little longer. Weddings are running at about 8 weeks right now for wait time, seniors about 5 weeks, and regular family sessions or kid sessions about 3 weeks. Remember, I have a family too so I have to try and find a balance and I had a hard time again this time of year telling anyone no for a session. With that being said, here is a peek into the first of my 3-week stretch of weddings I had in Sept-Oct. Congrats to Amanda and Justin! These two were so wonderful to work with and I AWLAYS love seeing and photographing Amanda’s family! They are regulars in my studio! Sorry about photo distortion, I can’t remember what to size photos at on my blog since its been so long!

Burns Family

A few weeks ago I had the honor of photographing this family as they “officially” became a real family family of 5! Meet the Burns! We met in Waterloo for Maddie and Isaiah’s adoption and went out for celebratory ice cream afterwards. I was so honored to get to be a part of their special day and this is my first ever adoption ceremony that I have been to AND photographed! Here is a few peeks into that day….

And then, a couple weeks later, we met up on a BEAUTIFUL Thursday evening and did their first “official” family photo session! This is a newer spot for me, down by the Turkey River and the lighting was just GORGEOUS which made for some wonderful family photos! Take a look!……

Not too sure about this one, my first attempt at 2 lights outside when getting dark, not sure how I feel about this, but its my first attempt……

Congrats Marnie and Jason! Your family is absolutely adorable and I am honored I got to be a part of the beginning of this union!
